Jaden was considering a career in music until her true passion for robotics and engineering came to light after joining Girls of Steel, a newly formed all-girls robotics team at Carnegie Mellon University. Her experience with her FIRST Robotics team helped her to land a summer research assistantship with Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Institute where she worked on redesigning an Autonomous Recharging Arm. She is especially proud that she reduced the number of parts from over two-dozen to only four while also expanding the arm’s capabilities. Jaden has been the team leader for her FIRST Robotics team for the past two years, and seeing how many lessons her own team learned their first year, Jaden created a website called Rookie FIRSTs which offers advice for rookie FIRST Robotics Competition teams. She has served as student body Vice-President, created an online forum for her school, and is the Editor-in-Chief of her school’s online newspaper. Jaden hopes to combine her interest in space and robotics in her future by one day working for NASA and designing robots to help further explore the space frontier. Jaden currently attends the University of North Carolina at Charlotte as a Levine Scholar, a program which selects 15 students annually that have a passion for making a difference not only in the Charlotte community, but also internationally. The program focuses on academic excellence, leadership development, and grant and service initiatives in the Charlotte area. Jaden is majoring in Mechanical Engineering with dual minors in Mathematics and Women's and Gender Studies.
